    m30 headache

    hey, i recently transplanted a e28 motronic type m3ob35 into my 85 318i m10 powered e30. Had no dramas doing all the mechanical work myself but when it come to the wiring i sent it to a bmw workshop. He has got it all wired up and cranking over but still cant get the injectors or any spark to happen. The fuel pump is working and he has power at the coil. He is using the original loom off the e28 m30 which was auto as well but now i have a 260 getrag behind it. Can anyone suggest any ideas to why im not gettin any spark or injectors.

        M30 wiring

        is the positioning sensor at the front of the engine connected? if so, check the separation of it from the crank it should be really close, and check that its conected to the right plug in the wiring by the fuel pressure regulator, there are 2 conector that are the same there, switch them and try, thats probably it. maby that helps.

          Is the ECU getting power? Are main relays working?
          Also the two position sensors at the bellhousing could be broken or connected wrong way around.. E34 / E32 engines have their sensors at the front. E24, E28 have them on flywheel.

          Have you changed flywheel, clutch or gearbox?

            try swapping out the ecu for a manual trans e28/e24 ecu...hopefully its as simple as that, otherwise like he said the two sensors on the bellhousing need to be there if you are using the e28 harness..you can run an 87 e30 325i manual harness to the e28 ecu. The 87 e30 harness doesn't have the crank sensors on the bellhousing just the one in the front.
