    323i getrag 260 - m30?

Hey guys, just a quick question, I'm just wondering if my e30 m20 323i getrag 260 gearbox will bolt up to an e34 m30b35? And if so what position would that put my m30 in? 1, 2 or 3?

    Cheers!

Should have searched harder... No m20 gearbox will bolt up to any m30 motor.

Was confused that there where two types of getrag 260... (The diference being the "/5" etc..)

As you found out, it won't fit.

      260/5 is from E28, 260/6 is fron E34 (tougher).

I recommend motorpos. 2, no additional hammering to firewall and you can still fit E28 535 radiator with electric fan on the front.

I'm more keen on engine position 3, better balancing, and I'm not to fussed on hammering the firewall to clear the back of the head of the m30, I'll be respraying the engine bay anyways.

          Update!

Motor on back of ute while coming back from sydney (No I didn't take the photo)

e24 635Csi getrag (believe it's the "sports" box) Also note the gearbox can be unbolted from the bellhousing!!

Motor ready to be pulled off ute and put inside where it will be striped to a long block and cleaned/painted

Also got a few other goodies including a e34 coolant header tank, e34 air box (yep the sexy long one) a fan shroud, and conecting boot for the air box to afm.

          What do you guys think?

Nice! How much did you get all that for? Can you take a better pic of the harness, so I can see if I got it all. What car did it come from? Good luck with the swap!

Over here In Australia I paid AU$1200 I have reciepts for lots of work done including R/R head (all parts replaced, including cam) however I still think I paid too much, see how I go once it's in the car.

My m30 came from a 1989 e34, I Wanted to get one out of an e34 to get away without changing the sump pan pump etc that is involved with other m30's (can't remember which models)

It's at work so ill get a few more photo's tomorrow of the harness, I believe I won't be able to use it because It was an auto and this is the auto harness, I'm screwed too because my e30 is an 1984 model and has the old jetronic cahssis harness which will make it hard to wire etc (can anyone help me here!!)

              Cheers.

I drove Funkmasters DD m30 car last friday. No wild driving, but hit 100MPH easily in 3rd.

Fun as hell, torque is very addictive. Felt like it belonged there, really did not feel front-heavy at all...but only mildly spirited sprints, no serious driving...but it really felt nice with all that powa on tap.

I also got the e34/e32 engine so I wouldnt have to change the pump/pan. The engine I got is from a AUTO also... My car is jetronic too.... and not to many people on here have done the swap in 318 cars so finding info on the wiring is hard. We need the 325i manual harness or e34 manual harness only for it to work. As far as wiring.... I have no clue.. YET.

p.s I think the TPS need to be changed to a m30 manual or 325i manual one.

                    260/5 is from E28, 260/6 is from E34 (tougher).
The 260/5 was used in the 533/633/733 until the end of production, and the 260/6 took over for the 3.4 liter motors starting roughly in 1985, so you can get a 260/6 out of an E23, E24, or E28 as well as the E34 and the very few E32 735is that came with manual transmissions.

As it seems, finding a wiring harness from a 87' e30 in Aussie is not going to be easy, I'll more than likely have to get one from the US as the 325i was not very common over here.

I'm in the process of getting clutch components system ATM, including a flywheel I'm going duel mass.
