m30b35, getrag 260/6, what driveshaft?

Hey guys,
I'm getting a 260/5 getrag (or 260/6 getrag) for my m30 swap, and engine postion 2, how do i go about the drive shaft? Do I have to get one custom built out of two, or can I buy one that just bolts right up, I read somewhere that a e30 320i drive shaft bolts up, any ideas??

I had E28 528 front piece and E30 325 rear piece. It was a tight fit but worked fine.
Of course had to get it balanced.

What do you mean by "tight fit?" Was there no splines on the slip joint present?

i have also heard you can use a driveshaft from a 325e auto...but that may be for pos 3 not 2...anyone else know more on that?

This is taken from another thread in ecca.com :

I think there was one guy who had engine postion 3, and used the m30 front shaft attached to the 325e auto rear shaft (tailshafts have 2 pieces, disconnect at center bearing). That is the only person i have herd of that has not had a custom shaft made.

Seems you need to get two halfs.

Post #107, he used his stock drive shaft but has "out of balance" issues, ended up get a full custom tail shaft.
Can anyone elaborate on what is going on?

I mean that the splines were "all in", so the engine couldn't have been furher back, otherwise the driveshaft had to be shortened.

Hopefully you understand what i mean :)

Now i've different gearbox so i had to get the driveshaft shortened, costed about 40€ so no big deal. You've to get the driveshaft balanced anyways, so get it shortened at the same time if needed.
