    Clutch Decision Help

I am worrying about what clutch to purchase for my swap. I have a b35 from a '91 735 and a 265 tranny from a mystery car. I called the dealership for pricing on clutch prices for an '86 euro 535 (my understanding is that the 265 came in these cars) and they quoted me $690 for stock clutch!!

I have the flywheel from the 265 which is just being resurfaced, what clutch should I use?

Check www.autohausaz.com for better pricing on a stock Sachs clutch kit, it shouldn't be more than $300 if I remember correctly. You can find them on ebay for under $300 sometimes too, just make sure it's a Sachs kit, anything else is a waste of time and money. Even with headers and a chip a stock clutch should be fine on a B35.

      I drove Funkmasters m30 swap....his clutch rocks.

I would ask him what he runs.

The problem I am having is that the tranny I have is not the normal tranny. It's a 265, which I don't think many people use. From what I understand it came out of the m3, early 635, and euro 535. Can anyone confirm?

Funkmaster did it the better way by purchasing the 260/5 tranny out of the e28 535 and I believe he used the e34 m5 clutch with aftermarket flywheel. I just don't want to get stuck paying $700 for a stock clutch!

The 265 is more of a heavy duty transmission and it was indeed found on the cars you listed, however it will use the same clutch as the 260/6. I used a 265 in my 335i and there were no complications other than having to cut the driveshaft.

I had a bit of luck today...I ended up looking inside the tranny I bought and low and behold, I barely used sachs clutch. Lucky me!

Thank god for that luck out :)
