    starter alternator issue...

m30 is in the e30 and im starting to get everything tucked away but im having a strange issue... when the alternator is wired (big and little wire) the starter stays engaged when the car is running. if i remove one wire or the other (big or little) the issue stops... any thoughts????

Sounds like the starter solenoid sticks, which means it's dead. I don't know if yo can rebuild these starters of not. Other than that start testing bits and pieces to locate the problem. Good luck.

Please fill me in on what wire you miss connected, as I'll soon be going through this swap and need any information I can get! Cheers.

oh it was just the red wire that connects to the starter. Had a couple hands under the hood and at some point it got connected to the terminal closest to the large part of the starter. Both wires to the starter should be on the same terminal.

          What are you building???
          Chassis?
          M30?
          etc???
