Ok, you're in a perfect place to find this out. Can the output flange be swapped from the original tranny to your new one? The Realoem part number for the output shaft on the M20 260 trans is the same as the M30 260. Therefore, it seems possible to swap the output flange and use the original driveshaft, if your trans is close to the same position. If you're using a 265 then nevermind me.

I'm planning to swap flanges when I do mine, I'd just love to verify it would work.

yes it will work but... dont do it, you are dealing with alot more power. I have a local BMW guru and the second i suggested this he said no. He said you will rip thru guibos. So getting the right shaft with the Bigger guibo is the only way to do it right.

Yeah let me know too if you find some hidden cache of 325e driveshafts because I've been looking for one too and I can't seem to find anything.

Does your guru have hands on experience with E30/M30's? Has he seen this happen? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I really want to know. The turbo guys don't seem to be having too much trouble with guibos. It's not just the engine output, it's the weight of the car that determines drivetrain load.

this is very true and i wasnt really thinking about turbo guys... either way this guy knows his stuff. he has not done the swap but he has been dealing with E30, M30, and all other BMW's for probably longer then twice my lifetime! Personally i would rather stick with the big Guibo... even tho it is harder to find...

my stock "small" style guibo held up to over 300bhp as have many others in turbo application....

just think of all the savings in the rotational inertia of the driveshaft.... :P

this is a really good point...and i agree with you all... i guess i just dont want the little polish man to yell at me alot when i show it to him when its done...

any way some one sell me some kind of a drive shaft here that is going to work cause i sold mine to a kid with a 5 speed swap thinking i would be getting a different one! Lets stay focused!

Down here in socal there is a 325es with a driveshaft sitting in the pick your part.

I laughed because I was looking for that driveshaft for like 3 months.

If I'm there soon, I'll pull it and sell it to ya.
