    I need brain help!

I'm needing a brain for my m30b35. I'm not asking to buy one (sort of, yea I am) I just need to know the numbers off of them. Whichever one you guys happen to be using. I checked RealOEM and all it told me was the part number and stealership's price. Please help me get this thing done!

Last three digits should be 179. There may be other Motronic 1.3 ECUs that will work, but the 179 is the one I know of.

Alright. What are the auto's? Are they actually the same? I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this. Was there just a wiring harness difference?

Autos had the same ECU, plus an auto tranny ECU that shouldn't even be a part of the engine harness aside from one plug down by the bellhousing where they interface.

sweeet. Thanks for the info. Is 150 the wrong last three digits? This on came out of a 91 535i. The engine was out of a 92 735i. I hope this works.

According to what I have read the 150 is compatible as well. Some E34 and E32 models came with the 150 instead of the 179, but I am unsure exactly what the difference is.

This may help: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...DME-Repair.htm Scroll down to the table.

The only 150 I see is for the 86-88 E24 (also e32), and is Motronic 1.1.

Any 1.3 ECU will run the engine, but the ECU that you need is 179

I do believe I do need one. I got the 150 today and it doesn't look like it'll work out. Ummm... is there any way you could set one aside for me? I'm out of money at the moment and don't get paid til Thursday. Oh, and how much?

Just because I'm curious, how many rows of pins should I have? Errr... better question, how many rows does the 179 have?

3 rows, 18 pins in the top 2 and 19 on the bottom. It's sitting on my workbench. ;)

Awesome. So a 150 will definitely not work. Now then... Who's willing to sell me one?
