    G262 CR Looks like this...

I just found out that my 5 speed is actually stamped 262 , instead of 265.
    This picture ( link) :

Exactly represents mine, 100% same everything.....except the shifting (dogleg ?) pattern....which i don't understand...mine seems to shifts the same way like stock 265.

    Anyone?

The 1st and 2nd picture from the top are completely the same as my 5 speed, including the stamps. But those pictures are not mine.

The 265 uses the 262 case, that's why you are confused. Same case, different internals. If yours shifts in a normal H pattern with 5th off by itself, it's a 265. If 1st is off by itself and 2,3,4,5 are in an H pattern, it's a dogleg. Here's a shot of my case for reference, it's a 262CR.

Edit: I had a 265 in my previous 6 and then subsequently in my 335i that used that 6er's drivetrain, but I don't remember if the rear portion of the case had this odd gold color like my 262CR does. What's yours look like? See what I'm talking about? It's gold compared to the rest of the case, like it's a different alloy or something...

2nd Edit: Shameless pimping of the factory weighted dogleg knob...
