    Quick question

hey i have a e30 that i recently m30 converted and am having trouble getting the tacho working, from all the patchy information ive read about it everyone seems to run a wire from the negative side of the coil to the black wire at the C104 connector, is this right? if so where is this C104 connector and what does it look like. Keep in mind i have a 85 RHD e30 with an m30 from an 85 e28.

    help greatly appreciated.

On LHD cars the C104 is in the glovebox near the ECU and it's usually just three of four wires off by themselves. I would think in a RHD drive car it would be the same story but I don't know for certain.

will try and have a look for the plug on the rh side, does the wiring idea to get the tacho working sound right though?

Run the black wire (Or whatever the tacho signal wire colour is on your '85 m30) at the main engine harness plug (c101) to the tacho signal wire at the c104, It's a small 3 wire plug under the dash on the right hand side that also has the coil positive and speed signal output.
        From memory wire colors are:

        green/white,
        green,
        brown/red.

Your '85 e30 should be similar to my '84, so any more Q's just ask!

Which year is your car and which electronics are you using for the engine?

You need e34/32 sump pan and pump too, the e28 pan contacts the top of the steering rack.
