M30B35 E34 Chip

Hi all,

I just saw on turner mortorsports website that the Jim Conforti chip for the E34 M30B35 claims +43HP !!!

Is that really possible that so much power can be gained with only a chip ??

Do you M30B35 guys have had experience in that ?? Any Dyno results posted ??

It would make a 208HP to 251HP jump, great if that's true.

The 43hp is mostly under the curve, so peak output wouldn't raise that much. JimC makes well respected chips, so I'm sure his claims aren't too far from the truth.

Exactly. We had this same discussion in the E24 section on Bimmerforums. The +43hp that they claim is at the point in the curve where the gain was the largest, not at the power peak. It might only make 10hp more at the peak (5800ish), but after the peak around 6100rpm or so where the M30 generally hits a brick wall is where the different fuel and spark curves come into play. They essentially give you more rpm to play with. A lot of them show some decent gains in the mid range too, and we all know thats where the M30 shines.

Edit: Dinan claims 232hp at the peak with their chip. I have not dyno verified this but my Dinan chipped B35 pulls considerably better than my old high compression B34... Especially over 5500rpm. Same transmission and gearing. Can't wait for headers and cam.

So the behaviour of the engine will be changed, like more HP and TQ on a wider range, and higher HP at higher RPM as well.

You will have a higher TQ and HP on a wider RPM band.

As an exemple ( DUMMY VALUES :p), at a given point of the curve ( at a certain RPM ), what was 140HP might be 183HP, but that the highest peack may be 10HP above the max of 208HP which would be a max of around 220 HP ??

Am I right ??

IF this helps, USPS has a small flat rate priority mail box the size of VHS, international s/h using it is $12.95, and in US is only $4.95.

Bigger box, if you need to ship the whole ECU is about $11 local and under $40 international

look into the E.A.T. Ultrachip. I have one in my m20, love it. Not as famous as JimC or Dinan, but very good. There's a dyno comparison around here somewhere comparing two or three chips and the E.A.T. chip performs marginally better.
