What Kind Of Clutch Do You Have?

I'm in the process of an m30 swap and its time to buy a new clutch. I'm on a tight budget and am always looking for the cheap way out but I cant expect much from the clutch out of the donor car being i only paid $300 for the entire car.
I'm planning on boosting the shit out of this motor later on. Somewhere upwards of 20-25 psi. So I'd hate to put a stock clutch in now just to have it slip later on.

So what clutch do you have?
    Major upgrades to the motor?
    Does it slip?
If it's something like a stage 3 how hard is it to push? Cause I'll be driving this car every day and have scrawny legs.

I would also like to know about a good performance clutch and a light flywheel combination.

For 20+ psi I bet you are going to need something pretty heavy duty and it may not be very pleasant on the street. Head over to www.MyE28.com and see what the turbo guys recommend.

A lot of the low pressure turbo guys and hot NA engine guys are running the "HD" Fitchel and Sachs kits or the M5/M6 clutch kits. Either one of those seem to be fine with over 300ft/lbs which is about the norm with the low boost TCD kit.

The early euro 3.5s and early 533/633 cars had a lightweight factory flywheel that was about 14.5lbs (vs 22lbs for the regular one). That's a great way to go for throttle response. Some of the really lightweight aluminum flywheels look pretty cool but at 8-11lbs the idle will be funky and drivability will change dramatically at low rpm... And not in a good way.

i have an M5 clutch kit now and it feels real good to me. I'm not pushing any big numbers yet, but i would bet that it would be up to the challenge.

Is an early 533/633 flywheel and m5 clutch gonna work with a 260/6 tranny?

Should all work together just fine. As far as I know all M30 based (including the M88 and S38) transmissions, flywheels, and clutches are interchangeable. Some 2.5 liter M30 and early 2.8 liter stuff may not apply...

Most of the mye28 guys run either SPEC stg3 clutch kits or The UUC/TCD clutch.

That said on my M30 I am running this:

Locally custom made(for me), Super grabby, Pedal just a wee bit stiffer than stock.

              Very streetable.

                  M5 clutch works with the M30 3.5 gearbox ?

just to clarify, because I also need a new clutch so I might also get a M5 one. Which M5 though e28 or e34? I am also going to get one of those e28 light weight flywheels.

Yep, M5/M6 and non-///M gearboxes and clutches will work together since the blocks are from the same "family". E28 M5, E34 M5, and E24 M6 clutches should all work.

I run a stock clutch in my 535i turbo at 10 psi and have had no issues after 15k, if you run a stock clutch I would recommend not dumping clutch at 5k rpms and such,

                            Wheres the fun in that?

And thinking about it. I dont think your supposed to use a clutch for a solid flywheel on a dual mass. Reason being the clutch designed for a dual mass flywheel normally doesnt have springs in it because the springs are in the flywheel instead

I'm pretty sure only some E32s and E34s had a dual mass flywheel. I have never seen or heard of an E24 or E28 with one, but yeah, definitely something to consider.
