    635csi motor & trans swap

Hey guys I'm about to pull the motor and trans out of an 86 635csi parts car, and I had a few questions.

I plan on just disconnecting the harness from the computer, undoing the driveshaft, unbolting the trans mounts, then engine mounts. I know it sounds easy but I know there's gotta be something that I'm missing.

Can the motor and trans be pulled out together?
What else needs to be done to get everything taken out?
Also what else should I take from it?

I was even thinking about just to make it easier cutting the whole front nose off with a sawzall since the car is pretty much trashed anyways.

O ya and this is going to be swapped into my 86 325e:)

Drop everything out the BOTTOM, that makes it a hell of a lot easier. Remove the front struts, remove the steering shaft from the steering box, and undo the 4 big bolts on the subframe and everything will come right out.

Cool I think I might actually do that then. Do you happen to know what size the bolts are?

Also, does anyone know where the lift points are for the engine when I hoist it into my truck and what size bolts I need for it? All I have is the hoist and some chain.

          Thanks guys
          Matt

I just pulled out an m30 from the yard today using chain and hooks. There are two holes on the front and back of the engine I used to hoist it.

They aren't actually that huge, I remember them being 17mm or 19mm.

Alright cool thanks guys. I'm probaly just gonna go buy 4 bolts of each size 17-20mm just to be safe.

Are there any other tools you guys would recommend bringing?

Here's what the motor is gonna be going into over summer. I plan on rebuilding the entire motor since it has been sitting for a couple of years.
