    325e to 325i m30 help

HI, I have swapped an engine harness from a 87 325i into my 87 325e with m30 ,I just plugged it in and fired it up,it was fine at first but the next day the tack is cutting out after a few seconds along with the mpg gauge, fuel gauge inop also. ...also idles about 2k if I don't tigthten the AFM. It has 153 DME with the i harness. Engine idled fine with e32 harness but would break up under WOT some times, now after swapping the 325i harness that is gone I have these cluster and idle issues.

Should I have swapped some pins in the C101?

the usual ECU people use is the 179. I'm sure the 153 would work, I just haven't heard anything about it

a 153 will run the car,...but keep in mind that the timing and fuel maps are for a 2.5 litre motor. you should source a 179, its properly mapped for your m30, and youll see a surprising performance diference.
the intermittent problems with your guages sound like a ground issue..........

I am trying to score a 179 but haven't yet, So no one thinks i should have swapped any pins in the c101 connector, i have heard if you dont then it may fry the cluster,
I really hope that didin't happen.,

The idle issue is most likely because of the ecu. Both the tach and fuel gauges are all controlled through the c104 plug. Check that plug to see if its loose.

well the 179 fixed the idle issues and the cluster issues were related to a blown fuses.
It really pulls good with the 179 ecu and ebay 40$ chip
