    m30 and power steering.

Hello. I was wondering what you d00ds
do for power steering? Use the m20 or m30 power lines with
the m30 pump? I don't think I've once read about this.

    Thanks. All opinions are welcomed.

You can use the original lines, they fit right up for me.

By original do you mean from the E30 or the E28? I'm assuming E30 since the E28 uses the crazy hydro pressure accumulator setup. Also since the subject was brought up, has anyone used AN fittings for their power steering lines after an M30 swap? I was thinking about running some but I don't know if they will clear the oil pan since they stick out a little farther than the banjo fittings.

With a b34 PS pump (don't know if b35 is different), I used teh stock m20 lines with very very very little massaging to the high pressure line to line it up.

I used b35 non self leveling pump from e34 and original lines

Yeah, my e30 didn't come with any P/S lines, doh. How hard would it be to get the P/S lines on the rack after the engine is in? I was planning on dropping the engine in this weekend but if it's going to be a pain to get the lines on I may hold off. Unless someone in Ohio / Michigan has some P/S lines they want to sell me on the cheap

^^ have fun with that. I hate power steering fluid when it gets all over the place.

BTW, are the b34/b35 power steering pumps different? I picked up a PS pump from an e28 and cannot figure out how it mounts to the b35 I got from an e32.

I know the brackets for the P/S pump are different between the B34 / B35 but I'm not sure if the pumps have different measurements that would keep them from being interchangeable.

that's what I needed to know. I have had the damnedest time trying to mount it.

I'm using e30 pump and lines. I had to rig up some sketchy bracket from other tensioners to make it fit.

I think that the b35 setup would be best/easiest to use.

Ok, I'm using the b35 pump with stock m20 lines.
                      Works well.

m30, m40, m42, m20 and m10 (the ones I know for sure) all use the same power steering pumps, the difference is the brackets that mount them and the pullys.

Good to know, so they can easily be swapped over re-used if needed? Brackets/pulley comes off w/o any hidden issues?

The bracket was pretty straight forward on my b34. 4 bolts, really obvious. It will all make sense once you look at it.

The pulley has three 13mm bolts holding it on and the brackets are all fairly self explanatory when you go to mount the pump to the engine. :)
