    Clutch went out....recommendations?

So my clutch is pretty much done, only thing it is useful for is Freeway cruising, otherwise If I give the car too much gas, or make a quick shift it slips.

I have done some searching, and saw the plausible options of
    m20 clutch/ flywheel swap
or the single mass flywheel swap.

But I am concerned mostly with price, and ease of job.

to do the m20 swap you need to switch out the gear of the starter, or off of the flywheel, which both seem quite difficult.

Anyone know its cost versus just replacing standard M42 clutch.

Is it really worth the extra dollars, if it costs more?

    Thanks.

Just use a late model M20 starter. Bolts/wires right in.

It's way cheaper than a new twin mass, and regardless of some peoples opinions I have heard about going to an m20 single mass set up it is the hot setup.

Hmm, its about 200 for a brand new clutch setup for an M42,
yet for the M20 I need new flywheel, spacer, bolts, starter, clutchkit, which I have no Idea how much it can go for.

If the clutch has been slipping the twin mass fly wheel is probably good and shot, these also can't be resurfaced.

Going to a lighter single mass is also quite an improvement: http://www.evolutionzen.com/m42-flyw...onversion.html

Is your flywheel still in good shape? Mine was pretty toasted at 275k.

I dont know, I havent taken a look yet, I didnt know I needed to replace the flywheel also. FUcccc

I just also took a look at the link you sent me. Seems like there is alot of Added stuff to go to the machine shop for the m20 flywheel conversion, stuff that I did not quite see when I was researching.

is there any final word on how much an m20 conversion costs including these necesities, I will try to mostly get used parts from the forums also.
