    Couple M42 questions..

    i finnally cam across a clean '91 318is on the island. i gat decent knowledge of bmw's but not the M42. what are some tip's n trick's to unlocking some performance out of it(cam timing, header's, etc..)

    Anyways, my E30 is the best iteration (other than the M3 of course), it is the 91 318is with the factory 138 hp DOHC, forged crank M42, factory shadowline trim, small bumpers, etc. It is actually as quick as a stock M20 (325 car) since it is chipped.


    It has a TON of work done to it. Bilsteins, Lowtec springs, all new mounts, control arms, Z3 upgraded steering rack, tie rods, control arms, M3 bushings, Z4 SSK, Aluminum OE shift knob, all new engine gaskets, Mobil One synthetic oil change 100 miles ago, new K&N air filter, etc, etc. Tires are great, brakes are brand new UUC slotted with Hawk pads and stainless lines. The car is turnkey and also has the rare factory sunroof delete (lighter weight). It is simple with no P/S, no A/C, no radio (wiring all still in).

    I bought it recently from a member on the forums for $4200 and have since put a good amount into it, so I'd like about that much.

    It is Diamond Black (metallic, nice color) with mint Black vinyl interior, odometer stated 53K but it had been not working in the past (all E30's do this), but the odometer gears have been fixed so it all works now.

    No issues with car. It is REALLY clean, probably one of the cleanest on island.

      I didn tknow the m42 put out 138hp,
      I was under the impression that it was near 110
      mine has also been chipped, preheater and all the crap hose removed from the throtle body ( and was no probome this past winter) 4 pintle injectors vs the stock single hole. no a/c, no p/s both deleted and fan converted to no fan clutch, using electric fan, and the larger 325 hose that goes between the air filter body to behind the headlights
      ( Dont rally know if thta makes a difference, but I had one and it is larger diamenter, so I assume more air flow)
