    0-60 time on an M42 318 vs a 325 M20?

    325 is what, about 7.5?
    318 is about 10?

M42 with a lightweight flywheel would be?

    Thanks

A lightweight flywheel makes a noticeable difference, and the m42 0-60 is more like 8

0-60 is meaningless. the 318is has to go to 3rd gear to hit 60.

my old car with a markD chip and oversized tires could hit 60 in 2nd gear in about7.5 seconds.

why do you say 0-60 is meaningless?

Id say its pretty meaningful when you drive in a city full of retards that will run you over.

I cant deal with a car that cant get out of its own way.

You'll be fine. It's a high revving, peppy ass engine.

I know of a nice turbo set up for sale for the m42
would cut that time down a bit

a turbo m42 takes work to actually dump out power.

i know first hand what is better to drive in the m20bxx vs the m42 powered cars. and ayone who owns a m42 will tell you also, a 318is. that 4 banger isnt much off of a 325i. you also can set the cams to different timings, which you cant in a 325i.

take a 318is. its also the PERFECT candate for a swap of any engine. especially the ls1 ;-)

In this scenario it's meaningless, because the 318is can do 0-57 in about 7.5 seconds, but 0-60 takes about 9.5

                            See what I mean?

looking at the numbers doesn't tell you a thing! Therefore, it's a meaningless stat.

                              BINGO!
3.64 or 3.73 differential will drop 0-60 time significantly.

60mph in 2nd gear makes a big difference on an autoX course. Most aftermarket chips will allow the engine to rev to 7200-7500rpm which makes the engine even more flexible.
