the m42 gods must have had nothing to do that day.

next time, do research first. anyone knows not to swap a recently bought used engine in without a minor tune up and inspection of components.

confucking grandulations...good thing the thing was fuckerd on the plug wires, imagine the damage you could have caused had the motor ran well otherwise...with a sloppy cam chain.

Your mechanical guardian angel was looking out for you!

well, still does ot sound good, the majority fo the cars I have owned in the past few years are interference engines, meaning, the valves cant go down when the piston goes up
cam and crank timing are critical
I think that is what you are looking at
    good luck
    keep us posted

You need to replace all of the bent valves.

Your cam thought it was the intake stroke and your crank thought it was the compression stroke. I don't know how else to explain it.

Look at the picture above and explain how you think retiming the engine is going to fix your issue.

heres what the M42 does when the tensioner lets the chain jump teeth...

Your valves are bent. No seal = no compression.

    Or your valves are bent...

    Do a compression test

yeah so i got the tensioner,,,she runs, wayyy better than she did before. idle is rough...but still pretty rocky. i was messing around with the spark plugs and pulled plugs 3&4 out just to see what would happen...nothing changed...so apparently its not firing on cylinder 3&4? what the hell does this mean?? could it be as simple as the spark plugs are shot?

throw a tensinon there in it an see what it does. you cant hurt the valves any more

    toast
maybe between the 2 you can build a good one, if you still have the other motor
