    magnaflow cat

I wanted to get some opinions on those that replaced their cat with a magnaflow. How long have they lasted? do they interfere with fuel economy?

I have one coupled with a magnaflow muffler w/ all 2.5 inch piping. It sounds very good, and doesn't seem to interfere with my fuel economy. I've had it for about a 1.5 years. I went in for smog the other day and failed. Hopefully my cat isn't bad yet, but I've yet to check for anything else i.e. O2 sensor and air/fuel ratios.

Isn't the magnaflow cat not CA legal? That's probably why you failed smog.

After a bit of googling, I was wrong. Kinda.

Magnaflow has CARB and NOT CARB legal cats. Make sure you got the CARB legal one.

I googled it and only found the non-legal one's. Care to link me? I want to check it out asap. Would there be a CARB stamp anywhere on the cat?
