How Do I paint My M42?

I'm nearly to the point where I can decide on paint colors for my M42. Please post pics of your painted engines/engine bays, so I may capitalize on your ingenuity and hard work by copying the best color scheme(s) for my baller ride. Thanks!

    It's not really baller though.

Nice, Rafiki. I've always liked the black with silver highlights look, nice and low-key and not too ricer.

Looks great, is the black painted or powdercoated. How about the stripes, painted or bare metal? My cover is powedercoated all black, but I wish the stripes were silver.

Does anyone know hard would it be to sand off powdercoating?

I opted to keep the throttle body and BMW roundel on the intake manifold black. I thought it looked cleaner with just the ridges sanded.

Match your oil filter cap too... I think it ties it together.

My lower oil pan is also black with sanded alum ridges :).

hahahaha, I like this little motor, it has nice, straight, clean lines. Eventually, I want to build a turbo car, not sure if it's gonna be M42 or M20. Unfortunately, short money keeps this whole thing more of a refurb than a rebuild. So, gaskets and paint all around! Seriously, though the car itself will be pretty cool when it's back together, as it does has some nice stuff on it. I'm just afraid that after it sat for so long that neat shit like wheel bearings will start to crap out on it.....

I have one idea for the oil filter housing.......still not complete, I have to get some more rust off the hex fastener off the left side.....nothing says kraut like cast grey aluminum and black....

                    M42 Paint

I've since added a silver AC Schnitzer oil cap - ties it together better.
