the high pitch is the clutch bearing/release bearing while the loud BANGING sound is ?????
the banging sound is actully louder and "thud" like in person...

One is sticking or not filed with oil yet. Run the engine longer and it should go away.

is it possible that it can do some damage? if so, is there a way I can manually lubricate it so it wont be sticking anymore.

i am really nervous running it with that sound...

          all help is greatly appreciated.

sounds like just a stiff valve train bro... give it some fresh oil. then just let it run for a few minutes(up to operating temp)then give it a drive around after a few miles the sound should be going away or gone. good luck. btw- it shouldnt cause any damage just make sure you dont r3v it to high until it lubes back up.

Yeah, sounds like your lifters aren't fully pressurized... or possibly your chain tensioner too. It's not going to hurt anything.

I'd change the oil though for sure, and make one of the quarts a nice synthetic ATF. It has a lot of detergents and will "clean" the gunk out of the lifters.

I'd run it at varying RPMs for at least 15 minutes after that. Noises should subside.

would the ATF be a good idea for an engine that is pretty gunky (bottom end)? The top end was rebuilt and the engine will be going in the car soon. Wondering if this is good assurance for cleaning all the oil passages.

It's a 5.3 quart engine, so replacing one quart of motor oil with a quart of high quality synthetic ATF isn't going to compromise your engine lubrication. The ATF has a really low viscosity, however, it contains a ton of detergents that will help bust the grime out of your lifters and chain tensioner.
I'd run it for a couple thousand miles and then go back to straight oil during your next oil change.

                      thanks!

Thank you guys for all the help!

I read some more about stuck lifters and decided to go with...
                      Marvel Mystery Oil.

I added some to my fuel and started it. In about 3-5 minutes the sound went away!!!!

                      I was soo relieved.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

You needed to add it to your oil. Adding it to your fuel will help the fuel system. Your lifter noises went away on their own. MMO is great stuff
