Any special tools to remove an m42 cam?

I know on the m20's you need some special hold down tool.
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

You don't need the tool on either of them.

Just loosen it evenly. Go a half turn on each bolt until the caps are free.

They are just blocks that hold the back side of the cams 90* to the head. You can pull them out without them.

You can put them back in without the tool also.

        ^^^
That's the cam alignment tool. You need that for installing the head and timing the engine properly.

He was referring to the special tool that holds even pressure on the whole cam shaft while you remove it. If you go slow on each cap bolt, you won't snap the shaft.

Awesome. Cuz I think its down to a head job to get rid of this shaky idle.

            Really?
What have you done for the idle so far? ICV? Coolant Temp Sensor? Timing? Vacuum leak?

Every single rubber hose known to mankind including all the fuel injector vacuum hoses, BOTH upper and lower manifold gaskets, new ICV, new evap solenoid (the one on the driver side fender), new temp sensor, new maf, new maf to tb boot, new cam position sensor. It still doesnt fast idle when its cold, and Im wondering if that has something to do with the rough idle. But once I solve that, if it still runs rough, BMW put out a tech notice a while ago when the m44 first came out that the valve angles were no ground correctly this causing a rough idle and only a head rebuild will fix it.
