    Cracked Oil Pan

I cracked my oil pan earlier today (pics on the way) and was wondering if anyone knew of a good write up on how to replace it. I have searched here and M42 but to no avail. To my knowledge it is just the bottom oil pan that is cracked (hit a large bump going too fast). What is involved with the replacement? Is it really necessary to support the engine when not dealing with the upper pan?
Also, I saw on another thread that someone used JB weld to patch up a cracked lower pan. Is this a feasible option? I've never used it before, how does it work?
I appreciate any help, this is my only car and I need it back on the road ASAP!

I have confirmed that it is just he lower pan that is damaged. Am I wrong in thinking that all I need to do is unbolt the old pan, and then bolt up the new one with a new gasket, fill it with oil and I should be good to go?
    Or is my noobness showing?
anyone with any info please let me know so I can order the parts.
    thanks

The lower oil pan is held on by 10mm bolts all the way around the perimeter. Before you drop the pan, make sure all the oil is out unless you don't mind a mess on your face/driveway. Pick up a new gasket, some RTV and install the opposite of removal.

You are correct that it just unbolts and bolts back up but, you need to check the upper pan bolts that are exposed when you have the lower pan off. Might even have a few in the lower pan when you take it off. Remove the upper bolts, Loctite them and torque them to 89 in/lbs.
I actually have 3 lower pans and 1 gasket if you are interested. PM me for pics and price
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

I just did both pan gaskets and I found no bolts lying in the lower pan but one was not even finger tight. Make sure you loctite them while you're in there. I used a razor blade and then steel wool to clean the gasket surface. Make sure you don't get any debris in the pan.

Thanks for all the advice. Already ordered the parts but I appreciate the offer Twistednut. Gave me an excuse to order a O2 sensor and the coupon I had for Pelican Parts. Can't recommend them enough
