    "Truck tire" noise?

Hey guys...it's one thing after another..

1- So, I noticed that the faster I drive the louder the "truck tires" sound I hear. Being in gear or coasting in neutral does not change the sound. Maybe a bearing of some sort?

2- At about the same time, it started getting hard to get into first gear when stopped. Rest of the shifts are fine..what can cause this?

Thanks for all of your help!!!

Truck tire noise is possibly a wheel bearing. If they are loud enough to hear when driving it's easy to nail it down, lift the car and spin a wheel by hand and see which is noisy. Or if you grab the wheel you can shake it to see if the bearings have too much play in them. If you have an LSD you'll need to get both rears off the ground, just plain easier to spin.

      1. is likely a wheel bearing, as stated above.

My first transmission had that 1st gear issue as well, specifically when cold. Part of it is worn synchros, but I don't entirely understand what causes it.
