    *squealy belts*

    This is annoying.

belts squeal on initial start up in weather under ~65 degrees. squeel for a bit, and then quiet down as the car warms up.

sometimes they will continue to squeal and obviously get louder as the rpms go up.

Also accessories/ac/lights will sometimes cause more squealing! is it an alternator issue?

The tension seems correct and the belts were just changed a year ago. anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

I'd guess you just need to get in there and tighten that alternator belt.

Tighten them all up, I was on the same boat not too long ago, the squeak makes people think it a pos about to break down, at least that's how i felt.

Are you buying quality belts? Conti or gatorback or similar?

Yep, same problem for me, just tightened my alternator belt it it was gone, there is a reason why it got loose, so maybe replacing them might be a good idea. I need to do it as well

I had the same issue. Belts would whine after startup in cold weather. It was RPM dependent and went away after a few seconds, but still quite annoying.

My issue was my belt was not remaining tensioned because the toothed nut on the alternator bracket was stripped.

                      This.

Just replaced this like.. 4 or 5 days ago. Not a single squeak so far. Make sure to pull your alternator AS FAR BACK as it will go and tighten the shit out of the nut.

I ordered from blunt.. I think it was $2? Part got here from Cali to Florida in like.. 3 days.

Exactly what I need, broke a few teeth when I pulled the belts off to change the radiator fan assembly. Belts have been squeeling recently. Wonder how much this is from a dealership?
