removing lower timing cover

Do I need to remove the ac bracket to remove the lower timing cover. Im in the middle of doing this and cant get the fucking thing off im using this write up http://www.esatclear.ie/~bpurcell/318istimingchain.html but doesnt mention shit about the ac. Someone please help
