    Overheating after "mess under intake"

So I just finished with the mess under intake.

    replaced:
-plastic coolant pipe from engine block
-coolant hose from plastic pipe to heater core (by firewall)
-coolant hose from head to heater core (by firewall)
-fuel injectors and fuel lines under manifold.
-deleted throttle body heater plate and all associated coolant/vacuum lines.
    -drained and refilled BMW coolant.

=took a while to start since the car was sitting for 2 months.
    =sounded like it backfired? twice.
=you can hear a loud thud/click when switching key to final position before start.
=took me 5 minuted to start car and it ran nice and smooth but a little louder than normal at first (like a heavy feeling)
=THEN IT STARTED OVERHEATING as I was running the car with coolant cap off!
=NO HEAT FROM THE HEATER also.
=the two coolant hoses that go to heater core are completely cool while all other hoses are hot to the touch!

Now I don't even know where to look. I was meticulous to tighten and put everything back like it should. Last time the car ran it ran fine. Never had problems with overheating.

Any help would really be appreciated!!

You need to properly bleed the coolant. I'm guessing u have a huge bubble in the system causing the overheat.

        whew...so,

I just got a hunch that I had a huge air bubble in there. I basically refused to believe that it was something broken because it ran fine before the refresh under intake.

I ran the car until the gauge went to 75% temp and shut it off. Then unscrewed the air release valve, let the air out and filled up to the "cold" mark. I repeated that a few times until the gauge would only go to about 60% and stop, no matter how much i revved.

It was dark, I flash the lighter in the overflow tank and I see milky!! I was like "ah, dang it!" and sadness just felt . Then i decided to flash the flash light on the side of the overflow tank to see the refelection of the coolant again. And it was still blueish! What a relief.

I continued releasing air and filling coolant until I got bubble with coolant and then just coolant out of the air release valve.

And Viola! Problem solved. Thanks for all the help! Super excited as you can tell ;)
