    Idle and Acceleration Issues

Hey guys, I went to help my friend with purchasing a 91 318i yesterday. The car had less than 100k on it with all the records and such. I test drove the car and it went smooth. it revved out really nice and decent power. No smoke stuttering idle issues. nothing.

My friend decided to do a compression test on site. The car was at normal temp (A little under half on coolant gauge). We unplugged all spark plug wires and one by one screwed in the gauge. We got 125,125,125, and 130 (cyl 4). No slow compression build on any cylinder. Is this normal?

Ok so I left and he decided to buy it. When he got home later he said it was acting funny. At idle it jumps from 700-1100 rpm and goes back down. sounds like its going to die but never does.

Also When he stomps on the gas from 1000 rpm it stutters up to 3k rpm but after that its normal.

What could be wrong? all spark plugs are back in and wires are snug. Did we fudge it up by not pulling power to the coil packs when doing a compression test? Are the compression numbers right?

The car felt perfect on the drive before our tinkering.

You sure you put the plugs back in the right holes? Might sound stupid.. but anything is possible.

Did you use factory gap specs when you put the plugs back in?

    Video might help here.. possible?

I think Nairb meant the right plug wires in the right holes. Doesn't matter which plug goes in which hole.
