Im about to buy an 88 325i. the car was originally automatic but the auto tranny blew. the only way im buying the car is if i can get a manual tranny and convert to manual but im not sure how much work that will take and if its even possible. Can some please give me some feedback?

Yes it's possible and has been done multiple times. Search around to find the auto>manual swap threads.
Essentially:
-trans
-flywheel
-clutch
-lines/hydraulics
-shifter
-pedals
- I think you'll need a driveshaft from a manual car as well.
Junk yard it up and you'll have a manual swap for cheap. -
