tick tick noise

I've noticed this on my wife's car in the past couple of weeks, when cold, the engine makes this ticking noise at idle and when driving, it goes away in 2-5mins of time, I've already replaced the tensioner to M44 spec and there's no plastics in the oil.

Is this normal? or I'm being paranoid about the timing guides?

I had the same thing, I think it was due to a stuck lifter. You may want to run a lower weight oil in the future, but doing a FULL Sea-foam treatment cleared the issue right up for me. I hope this helps you.

My M42 did the same thing. Sticky lifter(s).

Try doing a seafoam'ing, or run a bit of ATF in the oil.
