I know the m44 has the thinner valve stems and guides. But isn't there something different in the way the cams actuate the valves that makes the m42 better?

I got a fresh rebuilt head, I swapped motors and dont need it I'm in the city of orange which is pretty much local. $380, good luck finding one in local junk yards.

M44 have rockers like a SR20DET while the M42 dose not. there fore M42>M44

If your lucky you will find a stella seller with a good condition head for a great price. :)

Haha I was wait for that with all your American mumbo gumbo v8's.

SRS though rockers can be good but just adds for more to go wrong. That is why many if not all race purpose built engines do not have them.

After 9/92 all M42s had 6mm valve stems as well ;)
