I know the m44 has the thinner valve stems and guides. But isn't there something different in the way the cams actuate the valves that makes the m42 better?
I got a fresh rebuilt head, I swapped motors and dont need it I'm in the city of orange which is pretty much local. $380, good luck finding one in local junk yards.

M44 have rockers like a SR20DET while the M42 dose not. there fore M42>M44
If your lucky you will find a stella seller with a good condition head for a great price. :)

After 9/92 all M42s had 6mm valve stems as well ;)
