No not by hand the cams were fine to of the valves were fine I have thought for a long time the oil pressure valve was the issue

Does it still tick when you rotate it by hand?

The engine had ~400k you said? You think the cam lobes or the top of the valves could be worn down from having wasted lifters for so long?

Is your oil pressure relief valve stuck open? If it's the old style, there's a chance it is which would cause low pressure up top.

Did you guys soak the new lifters in oil? It also helps to manually pump them while they're submerged.

Maybe the 'tick' wasn't coming from your lifters..

ryan the tick was for sure from my lifters some of the spring on them were toast, not soaking them was the issue here

we didnt soak them in oil i have everything out now and some of the lifters were dry and still not compressing lol whoops some of them have already primed so ill be soaking them in oil and priming them and making sure all of them compress before i put them in

It was about 45 mins ken I ran it after it warmed up and the tick is god awfull it won't quite down ideas strongly welcomed

After install, they also need to sit for 30-60min. But I'm sure final assembly was longer than that.

well just finished(thank you so much stan) but the bastards still ticking not quite sure what is going on, a few ideas are that the lifters arent spinning oil pressure etc..huge letdown but not going to give up ill have a quite engine this weekend one way or another
