I wanna keep the TB studs just incase i need to reinstall the heater plate if a smog technician is being picky. I'm friends with my smog guy though so I'm 99% sure it'll be fine. The hose from the VC is a stock hose, paired with another stock hose I had laying around that I either removed or got somewhere (no clue). The intake boot than it connects to has one of those barbed connectors in it already.

Vivek is your valve cover and intake manifold painted, or powder coated?

Just painted. I used rusto barbecue paint, flat black. Looks good, holds up fine, and is <5 bucks a can.

If you have an address that is not @gmail/hotmail/yahoo, such as a work, school or ISP provided email you can use that. If you do not have any of those I can refer you. It is a major bummer, but it keeps the spammer/bots out of a site that has at best two off & on administrators.

I had the same problem. PM dude8383 about it. He helped to get me set up there.

Good stuff here. Thanks for sharing Vivek.

More on the subject in this thread.

Also - I totally stole the picture diagram and added it to the thread in the name of good information sharing.

Good, now your thread will likely be enough for anyone attempting this :D. I personally found it too confusing/complicated when I went into it all using your thread. Then that one diagram saved my ass.

Hey Vivek I am a little confused. I am starting to just know venture into the engine aspect of my car. I am a serious noob at working on um and my plans are new tensioner and this mod. 1. How much did you spend on parts for this clean up? 2. Where do fuel lines come into play? I thought it was only vaccuum and coolant lines, or are vaccuum lines also fuel lines? (Noob like I said) I.e. what do the two lines between the lower intake tubes connected to. 3. What did you use to clean the ports of the intake? Wire brush and some solvent? And if so what kinda solvent. Thanks in advance any help is greatly appreciated.

If you know what you're doing going in and follow that diagram, you can get everything (I think) locally for around $30 max. The fuel lines are under the intake mani and go to the fuel rail. They don't have to be replaced, but I did it anyway. They're about 2" long each, and a foot of fuel injection hose was like $6.49. You have to be careful when cleaning the ports on the head. I used just a plain shirt with nothing on it, but mine were extremely clean. You could use a rag and brakleen (soak the rag in it and don't use paper, you don't want bits going into your engine). For the lower intake mani I used some degreaser, a dish brush, and a hose.

Alright sweet. I am planning on doing that in like a couple months. When I have my fall break from school for now I am gonna try a seafoam treatment and oil and tensioner change. With the seafoam if I disconnect the vaccuum hose to the brake booster and apply seafoam there will that work?
And its 1/3 in the intake 1/3 in the oil and 1/3 in the gas right?

Thanks Vivek had the printout taped to the bottom of my hood, btw i dont know what size it is but make sure to get the vac line from the Fuel pressure reg to the TB, that tiny little bastard exploded on me so i wrapped it in electrical tape until i can gets a new one!
