Somewhere in the 180-200whp. It feels really good in an e21.

Please share more info as you have it. I'm very interested in this as soon as my m42 car is not a daily.

I will continue to update the thread as I make progress. I am waiting on intercooler couplers, piping, downpipe parts, by pass valve, etc. Looking like that should be here on Friday so hoping to finalize the turbo location this weekend.

The AFM is going to have to come across and be on the drivers side. There just isn't enough room over on the passenger side to fit it how I would like. As well as the wiring needing to be extended. I am trying to make this kit as east as possible for others to install.

Id love to see dyno numbers. I'd much rather keeo the m42 and turbo it rather then going m50 swap if they'd be in the same ballpark regarding power. Plus, I'm a sucker for the sound of turbo alone. :)

First post, just started lurking r3vlimited.com recently and came across this. Currently in the process of selling my E46 for a E30 and this is defiantly something I'd be looking for to go along with the purchase! Nice to see a community oriented product like this!

Hoping to finalize the location of the turbo in the next couple days.

I am still planning on going on 1jz but maybe this kit will make me reconsider. Can't wait to see the end result.

Ended up with a snow day from my day job....so I am able to spend time in the garage. I already have this coming Wednesday scheduled off so this just puts me a bit ahead.

Here is where the turbo will live.

Clearance from the hood. Looks like less there there really is. 1.5-2" between the compressor and the hood, 2-3" between the exhaust side.

AFM will have to come across to the other side. Just no room. It does go in front of the mech fan if you wanted to keep it. Shroud would need some trimming.

Bypass valve will go in this area

I am not 100% sure if the manifold will be a 4-1, 4-2-1, or log yet. 4-1 is looking like the collector will hit the inner fender. Also with the 4-1 keeping AC will be pretty tough. I could offer different options for whatever you want.

Time to mock the downpipe. More to come later today.

That is awesome, no idea exactly how you manufacture a turbo, but love the home made ideas, what kind of performance increases are we talking? Any adjustments needed to strengthen frame or other areas? for any specific purposes? Just curious...

The turbo isn't home made...it is bought. 180-200hp.

                            Lunch time update...

                            m42 turbo manifold jigs...
                            e30 on the bottom
e21 and 2002 on the top

                            Downpipe...

and below...there will be a vband down here in the final kit

                            Clearance.....

unforuntually a 4-1 is not going to fit where I have the turbo located. Would rather go 2-1 or even a log to keep AC and help packaging. Might be even able to lower the price of the kit a little bit if it was a log manifold.

Also with where the turbo is it looks like fitting the washer tank MIGHT be doable if it is moved over a little closer to the fender. Or maybe use an e28 or e21 tank.

Looks super good. I prefer the black couplings to the blue ones, looks much cleaner IMO.
