    For those with similar issues, when I had the problems the OP is describing, i did all the vacuum lines and checked temp sensors and swapped coils and fuel filter.

    A different AFM ended up solving the problem.

      I'll be dealing with this issue in a few weeks when my E30 gets back from the body shop... Mine has a rough idle issue, and the MIL comes on while driving, but when I lift off, it goes away. Also, the "fuel economy" gauge only goes to maximum or minimum. The fuel filter looked old, and I'm fairly certain the mess under the intake hasn't been addressed. Fun, fun!
