Hi Guys
I know this question has been asked a lot & after searching I think I've found the answers, I have a 04/1990 built 318is I picked up about 2weeks ago for all of $1000. The guy who owned it messed up timing chain replacement & bent valves on start up.
My plans after looking at how bad the head is with corrosion(has been pulled apart for 8yrs sitting in his garage) was to pick up an early model e36 m42 engine & using the block & head along with the intake set up from the e30 to rebuild an m42.
I'm in the process of getting parts together I just wanted to know what I should add to the following list:
COP - HQ motorsports
Plan to run an m40 flywheel less hassle then the m20 flywheel swap
Clean up the mess under the intake(the heater plate is pointless in Australia)
Mark D chip or turner? not sure if I should chase anyone in particular
Replacing both the master & slave clutch cylinders & getting a UUC clutch line
I'm in the process at the same time restoring the car, just started replacing the interior got houndstooth door cards, & some mediocre bucket seats the original comfort seats had seen better days. I've also started prepping the body for a fresh respray in diamond schwartz. At the end of it I want to have a clean little 318is which is more fun to drive than my e30 318i 4dr which is a auto m40 so not the quickest bmw around lol.
Anyway ideas & pointers would be awesome, if need please flame but only if needed
Cheers
Ant
