    e36 m42 Catalytic vs e30 m42 Catalytic

Does anyone know if these are swappable? A friend of mine let me use an e36 m42 cat to see if it will work for the e30. Any thoughts?

Welding it should work just fine. Bolting it..get under there and compare them. If it looks like itll fit, try it.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Can't be 100% here, but they ought to interchange at the connection to the manifold, but the rear flange will be the issue as length, angle and flange orientation are probably different.

it looks kind of different shape wise. Inlet from the down pipe comes from the side almost.

Also, i forgot to mention, it came out of a ti. (if that matters)

Probably makes no difference if it came out of a compact or a sedan. The front section ought to be the same with the difference being made up in the back (where it is less expensive to alter).
