    M42 Lose Clutch

When stepping on the clutch pedal, I feel there is a play or a gap that feels very lose before I feel the pressure. What could be the issue here?

    Thank you!

Does the clutch still engage? If it does I say its the return spring on the clutch pedal. Look at it is right behind the clutch pedal. Push the pedal back and forth with your hand and watch the action of the spring.

Yes, it still engages very well indeed. I will check the return spring and let you know.
Is it difficult to replace the return spring? Or will I have to hire a mechanic to do it?

Is it a lateral (side to side) looseness? Pretty common for the pedal bushings to wear out.

No, it isn't side to side. It's only when I depress the clutch pedal the first 1.5 inches feel very lose and then I feel the pressure. I could play with the first 1.5 inches by tapping it many times with my foot and it feels very lose. The other day, I heard a clicking sound once only (coming from the clutch pedal) when stepping on the clutch while driving, but it hasn't come back yet. I've been having this problem for about a month.

There is probably air in the system and it needs to be bled. Here is how:
