I have a 1991 318i m42 and there is a rattling noise when the gas pedal is pressed and released at very low speeds, or at least that's the only time I can hear it. No idea whats going on here. Help appreciated.

Open the hood and actuate the throttle by hand and listen for the noise. If it's coming from the front of the engine you probably have a timing chain or tensioner issue.
If it's not coming from the engine bay the next best possibilities are the throw out bearing in the transmission or a drive shaft/differential issue.
