    Rattling noise with gas pedal

I have a 1991 318i m42 and there is a rattling noise when the gas pedal is pressed and released at very low speeds, or at least that's the only time I can hear it. No idea whats going on here. Help appreciated.

Open the hood and actuate the throttle by hand and listen for the noise. If it's coming from the front of the engine you probably have a timing chain or tensioner issue.

If it's not coming from the engine bay the next best possibilities are the throw out bearing in the transmission or a drive shaft/differential issue.

How about a video or audio clip of the noise? I would suggest other items, but they are just a shot in the dark without actually hearing it.

If it's engine related What RPM's does it happen at? Around 2.5-3k?

That's when it seems to go away.

5 qts 10/40, 1 qt 10/30. The dealership put 5qts in and it really needs 6 and added the last qt on way home from palm springs since I was concerned about running low on oil. 10/30 was all the gas station had.

That right, but at 5 the oil level is just barely above the bottom line on the dip stick.

Turns out the guide is broken and pieces where flying around making the chain loose and slapping around.
