    Smelling the clutch or tranny?

    Hello r3v,
Feels and smells like my clutch is going out,
It might be my transmission, I was going up a steep
Hill in first gear and it was literally going 5mph and smoke
Was coming out of under the hood, no every time I drive it
It smells burnt, clutch or tranny?
I think it's ready to swap to a nice fresh luk clutch maybe?
I'm looking to do a light flywheel, nothing crazy it's still a daily and
I plan to take it to autcross in the near future
I hear the edm single mass flywheel might fit like a glove?
I'm not to knowledgeable on this so don't hesitate to recommend
A perfered part or set up!
    This is for a 1991 318is

If motor is reving and clutch is fully engaged and you aren't moving then its safe to assume a bad clutch. Especially if theres smoke...

Ok this is the weird thing. Car still goes, a bit slower In engaging or it might be me overthinking it but no more smoke. Just that it smells bad after I drive it, thanks for helping me out also!

Could you have a sticky brake caliper? Dragging brakes will stink too.

I'm hoping it can be something easy to replace or fix like that, my brakes do squeal and aren't so good right now, leaves my wheels black after one day of driving, thats at the top of my list for next purchase. so I'm hoping its that, so far i still drive the car normal, just smells like either the tranny or clutch and maybe even the caliper…thanks for you input as well!!!

Thats a seized caliper. Out your hand near your wheels after driving and if you feel a lot of heat...stop driving and switch that all up
