Could anyone with an M42 Post a picture of their accessory belts (Alternator, A/C, Powersteering) which pulleys they are on and just a general overview of them

Would be greatly appreciated ! I've tried searching online for a distinct picture for this need and have come up with nothing !

    Thanks

What exactly do you need it for? Have you checked realoem for diagrams? I can't help right now, I'm at work, but I can try to get a pic later if no one else does

Yea I have checked RealOEM, the problem is with them I cant find a complete diagram showing how it all comes into place. I was doing a belt change yesterday and Have put on the new alternator, but the A/C belt and Powersteering Im not too sure !!

Also, one of the pulleys with a tooth and pinion style just wont move ! I've completely loosened it but I cant move any of the pulleys closer to put a new belt regardless

You may have stripped the teeth, it's really easy to do, but my guess is you're talking about the AC, which doesn't move with a tooth and pinion, there's an allen bolt to adjust the tension in that.

The belts should only fit one way, the AC belt is the thicker one

It's easy, did it a couple weekends ago. Look at them before you take them off and remember where they go, they go back on in the reverse order you take them off.

Okay I figured out how they go on, but the problem now is moving the powersteering pump and tightening the AC. I tightened the allen bolt on the AC one and its still pretty loose..

For the AC you need to tighten the 13mm(if I remember correctly) bolt that goes on front after you get the allen head tightened up.

On the PS I loosened another bolt to make it easier to move the pump back to the right place then tightened everything down.

Ive been trying to tighten the AC Pulley, has not been working. it just wont create tension with the belt, and the PS wont move. I've tried unbolting some, spraying WD-40, there are certain bolts that I can't even really get to. Im starting to give up, might just get a mechanic to do it :/

For the AC put tension on the pulley then tighten the bolt on the bottom and see if that helps. For power steering, loosen the bolt in the back of the black knob/bolt thingy. Then turn the knob tin too you get the proper tension and tighten the back bolt. Same with alternator.

The Power steering pump will not move and Im going crazy at this point Lol. Ive loosened all but one bolt on it and it wont move, I've pulled with all strength, sprayed WD 40, Beat at it with a Goddamn hammer, and for the life of me it will not budge.

I think its time to get a new car

I've given up on AC, I live in Canada and its May. we just recently finished with snow so I can live without AC for a bit, I'd really like to have powersteering though !

                            Pic for reference:

                            Decent writeup on belt installation.

For P/S you need to loosen all of the bolts that you can see for the pump, and then turn the adjuster, hold it in place and tigheten a couple of the bolts back down. If your adjuster bracket/nut is stripped just loosen all bolts/nuts, and pry the P/S pump towards the drivers side with a pry bar or large screwdriver.

Kind of goes without saying, but to be sure you have the belts on the right pulleys from the outset.

On the AC tensioner you have to loosen 9 slightly before you tighten 10 (the allen head bolt). Then re-tighten 9. If you don't you will strip either 10 or 2 (or both). http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...rting_bracket/
