Bad engine Vibration and Noise through Cabin

So I've had my 318is for about 3.5 months. Picked it up as a project. And the vibration and Noise in the Cabin have been terrible.

I read some posts on what it could be.

Most people pointed to engine mounts....

I looked at what was on my car

Green e28/e24 m30 engine mounts, one missing a nut. Hmmm......

So I ordered some new OE oil filled rubber mounts for the M42

The Vibration got better. but.... not gone, still pretty bad.

So I look under the car more. I see the CAT and exhaust pipe flange are not sealing well. New gasket tighten up some stuff. It's better.
    Less Exhaust noise.

But there is still a Bad vibration around the console you can hear in the Cabin.

I looked at the Transmission mounts the looked solid and they were.....

but not OE. They were E21 metal capped rubber mounts.

I replaced with m42 rubber transmission mounts and the Vibration was 99% gone.

I couldn't believe that those tranny mounts could vibrate the car that much.

    My Cause

    FYI

My advise if you have a whole lot of vibration coming from the engine, check both engine and Transmission mounts first, make sure they are OE. Unless you like vibration and noise.

Yea the tranny mounts absorb a lot of vibration so when they go you know.
    DENY IGNORANCE!
