white smoke and gas smell on start up?

I started her up after probably 2 months. Recent work done was a complete front suspension refresh. when I start it up it took a while maybe because I also changed the fuelfilter anyway are you a started idled at just over 1000 rpm steady. Then I noticed a pungent gas smell and then some white smokig coming from the engine bay by the headers. My friend said she seen the smoke coming from the header area not the injectors so maybe we can rule out leaky injectors? I had to life the engine a bit when I tried to access the inner ball joint nut. Maybe I loosened something up? Help appreciated. I really dont want to swap an m50 .

I would check for a leak at the downstream end of the exhaust manifold/header.

I replaced the lower manigasket and injector o-rings. While in the area I noticed the hose to valve cover had a tear. Weird because I replaced all the hoses. Ive tossed everything back together but im afraid to start her up (fire or something)

Maybe you touched the header with greasy hands and its just grease burning off of the header

Probably did.. there wasnt a different smell of burning not like coolant , but gas smell was heavy its kinda always smelled gassy and apparently its an e30 thing : / think its safe to turn on? .

It was just some grease on the header area. And I fixed my idle. It was the ICV. I unplugged it and idle ddidnt change. So I smacked on the icv and the idle came down its now at a comfortable 850 rpm
