Sob 318is almost overheating but not

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I've changed the thermostat. Coolant sensor for gauge. Mess under the intake fixed with new hoses. And new coolant. I feel like I've bled the system properly cause I have great heat. The gauge will go past the 1/2 way mark but not touch the 3/4 mark. I should have done the pump but didn't. That's next. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem? Thanks in advance as always guys

What temp thermostat did you put in?

The Bmw oem replacement for the m42. It did the same thing before I did anything to it

Check ground nut on the back of the gauge for proper tightness. Mine likes to loosen up every so often and my temp gauge creeps up with it.

So I took the cluster out and tightened the bolt(just enough to where it felt tight). Turned on the whip and let it run for almost an hour and it did great! The needle stayed in the middle. I pray this fixed it. I'm gonna drive it some more soon and I'll give you guys a report. Thanks so much balleristic!

Any reason why it does this? Would a dab of some loctite maybe help?

You could try loctite, but I would rather go with a wave or lock washer to prevent back out from vibration.
