    Mess under the intake/intake boot?

    Hello M42ers,

I´ve had enough of too many cracked vacuum hoses and air leaks so i´ve
decided to do the "mess under the intake" on my euro m42.

I´m keeping the coolant tubing as is for now, because i just don´t feel like taking off the intake to get at it. The tube from the valve cover has been routed to the intake boot, and the ICV tube has also been routed to the intake boot.
So far so, good. The idle has gotten better and no more sucking sounds.

    Now i´ve discovered that the intake boot has a tear. Looking at real oem they have two part numbers ;

    04 Rubber boot
    1
    10/1991 13711721431 $14.64 ENDED

    04 Rubber boot
    1
    10/1991 13711734385 $34.93

    only in conjunction with

    -- Blind plug
    1
    10/1991 13541739249 $2.95

It looks like the part i need 13711721431 is no longer offered. My original boot has two holes but i´m not sure how the new part 1371173485 differs from the original.
Is it the same item but with an added stopper to plug up the extra second hole?

    Anyone run into this?

    Thanks in advance

We replaced all the hoses with stock we sourced from Blunttech.
Send Steve an e-mail and ask what the deal is. He's in Minnesota USA a bit far away.
Your local BMW dealer parts guy should be able to answer the question as well.

      Thanks ahlem,

Unfortunately the BMW dealers here aren´t any help, but i´ll email Steve and see what he says.
I had replaced all the hoses with oem parts 5 years ago, but in that time they´ve all cracked.
Rather than spend more and have it happen again i decided to replace the vacuum hoses with heavy duty hose and simplify the system.

If you are driving an E30 M42 powered car then 13711734385 is the correct part. I found that it was good to replace all the rubber vacuum hoses with silicone. I bought mine for about $83 USD at hiperformancestore.com (ebay).

There is a mess under the intake thread on routing if you haven't seen it: http://www.m42club.com/forum/index.php?topic=2742.0

Steve can get the correct part ordered for you. Steve@blunttech.com.

Thanks, i´ve seen the m42 club thread. It´s almost the same, but Euro M42´s are different in some ways. They use a different throttle body heater and don´t have the nipple under the throttle body. No charcoal canister either, at least on my no-cat is.

I managed to get some heavy duty vacuum hose used for pneumatic tools. It´s flexible enough to route but still hard enough to keep from collapsing. It should last longer than the stuff BMW used, cheaper too.
All the coolant hoses look fine, so i won´t touch those until i have to have the intake manifold off.

            Also ordered the intake boot.
