Fuel cut after washing engine bay

Washed my engine plenty of times before, following the same procedure every time- putting a bag over the coils and fuse box, making sure not to directly spray down the spark plug holes etc. After washing today however I'm experiencing a fuel cutoff at 2000rpm it seems like, where it literally feels like a rev limiter at 2k. I've checked that anything spark related is dry, and it is. I also have no CEL.
    Idles pretty smoothly.

Check your crank sensor. When mine went bad it basically acted like the rev limiter was kicking in at 3k rpm.

I was hitting it with water when I was doing the undercarriage. Hope it's not it though :( I'll take a look

Booo update: Drove around, got it up to 5th gear 50mph @ 2100 rpm (the highest rpm's it would let me), downshifted to 2nd which would be about 5000rpm usually, the tachometer only read it at 2100rpm, while the engine clearly sounded to be going much faster than that. CPS confirmed, as it gives direct input to the tachometer of the engine's revolutions, and also controls the ignition timing as well.

A little upset about this as I've been dumping more money into my car than recently, CPS's aren't exactly cheap. Order a Duralast/Autozone CPS for $75, which I hope works well as it will be the first time I buy a non-bosch sensor. But I suppose it's better that it broke this way, rather than the car leaving me stranded with a no-start situation which might have happened sooner or later as the CPS has about 50k+ miles on it under my ownership, and unknown miles under the previous owner.

Though I do wonder how the water messed up my CPS, seeing as how this CPS was wet all the damn time most of spring from the weather, since my car is low and my area of NJ is puddle city.
