e36m42 coolant temperature sensor doesn't work on e30 body?

    Hi,
I swapped m42b18 from e36 into my e30. Temperature gauge on instrument cluster doesnt move at all, I replaced several working clusters and result is same, so I am sure that temperature gauge working.

I tried also with 1-pol sensor from e30, and temperature gauge start to work, but it is bouncing and it is in 5 minutes in red line, when I turned engine off, and give contact, then is sensor right in the midle, but when I start engine, temperature gauge is again in 2 minutes in red line and bouncing.

I have original coolant temperature sensor of e36 replaced in my engine with new one, I was sure, that sensor is broken. But also new one it doesn't work on my e30 cluster. Why? This is a 2-pol sensor from VDO (12621747281). Original my e36 engine wiring harness has 2-pole sensor, but it is not moving at all, 1 pole sensor does not show correct temperature.

I have no ideas what to do and check...Please help, any suggestion or Idea will be helpfull...

    Thx and regards,
    Dejan

You might have swapped plugs incorrectly. Oil pressure (1 wire) dme temp. sensor (2 wire), guage sensor (1 wire) are all similar.
