Fuel pump relay keeps dying

I have a 91 318is and this is the second time I've replaced the relay..as soon as a new one is in the pump fires up no problem and when I jump the relay it also works. Replaced the whole pump and sender last year. Wondering what could be causing this? Really frustrating if anyone can help thanks guys.

start with a wiring diagram.
there is an e30 electrical trouble shooting guide that you can down load from a website that has the word "armchair" in it. Very handy for lots of things. There are interrelated circuits to check. Takes a while to figure out but well worth it.
