Confirming M42 to trans mounting bolts, for engine stand?

What is the thread pitch for the mounting bolts, trans to M42? I see 8, 10 and 12 MM bolts of various lenghts, no details of the thread pitch.

I want to mount my M42 to an engine stand, but Im not 100% sure the transmission bolts will work (may be too short, too long?) thus I want to try a few local places first.


Edit: Just because I know I search a lot of threads with the answer hidden somewhere in the comments...

I figured out that the M42 block allows 4 M12 screws. The thread pitch you need is 1.75mm. Thread length, 1.25". I added 2" to the bolt length to allow for the spacing needed for the stand, totaling 3.25".
So if you have a harbor freight stand, get M12x1.75mmx80mm screws.

Depends on your engine stand as far as length. If your stand has the tubes welded to the arms, the factory bolts may be too short. Lowes / HD stocks the M12 bolts you will need.

My fear was the thread pitch. I think Lowes stock bolts worked. Worried about not knowing the thread pitch and possibly mucking up the drilled hole, but from what I read there are typically only 3 different thread pitches and it would be fairly obvious if the bolt would go in or not .

Take one of your tranny bolts with u to confirm pitch. Find a nut that fits your bolt and buy the matching bolt.

Thanks for the help. I purchased an M42 without a trans so I am going about this without the transmission and bolts. I think they will have what I need, I got some yesterday-- they were too short but they seemed to thread fine.
