Hey guys, so today i threw a head on my m42. prior to this I did some block work including new rod bearing and main bearings, also bored out the cylinders to 86mm to fit bigger pistons. The crank and pistons moved freely with the head on but as soon as i hooked up the timing chain its a bitch to move. All the timing is set to tdc as well. I can put some good force on it to get the crank to move slightly but it seems way to hard for it to be normal. Btw the cams were exposed inside the head for about a month before this, would that have some cause for it

Just throwing it out there, but is everything oiled up? Make sure you have oil where needed and if it's cold where you're at, it might be harder to get things to turn without a little cheater/breaker bar if you're work area isn't heated.

Remove the chain and see if either the cams or crank is seized on their own. Did you resurface the head after it warping? If that happened, your cam journals might not be aligned and are trying to bend the cam. You can test this by rocking the cam if the end journals are low, or using a small bead of putty in the middle journals to see if the ends are high. The putty should squeeze very thin if everything is aligned. For obvious reasons, don't get it near any oil holes. That's what I would check first.

The ideal scenario is to get the lube on the bearings but if you can hand turn, Im sure getting it on the cam and then rotate it down to the bearings would be ok.
